After more than 60 years of development, modeling and simulation (M&S) science and technology has become one important way of understanding and changing the world. M&S plays a vital role in many critical fields, such as economics, aerospace, information, biology, material, energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, education, military, transportation, ecosystems, pharmaceuticals, and health.

A society system is a typical complex system that consists of human, nature, cyberspace and engineering systems. These kinds of complex systems are generally characterized by extreme complexity, strong uncertainty and nonlinear and even have quantitative and qualitative features and continuous and discrete events simultaneously in one system, which makes it very difficult to do analysis, optimization, and control with the traditional theoretical and experimental approaches. The simulation will provide powerful support to the complex systems.

In recent years, AI technologies exert more influence on M&S methodologies, which gives more powerful capabilities of studying and handling complex systems. Meanwhile, the new generation modeling and simulation characterized by digitalization, servitization, and intelligence is getting gradually improved.

The special session deals with topics concerning modeling and simulation for smart and harmonious society. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

Accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
